C40 Executive Director Mark Watts: Cities are "Nimble and Action-Oriented"

The latest issue of Sustainable Cities – a twice-yearly publication by Climate Action designed for Mayors, urban planners and sustainability experts – features a foreword by our new Executive Director Mark Watts, where he emphasizes the impact C40 Cities are having on reducing carbon emissions worldwide.

"At C40 Cities, we understand that cities are leading the global fight against climate change," said C40 Executive Director Mark Watts. "More nimble and action-oriented than their state and federal counterparts, the governments of C40 Cities – and cities around the globe – serve their own residents and lead the world by adopting innovative climate solutions and demonstrating their feasibility in some of the planet's most challenging environments."

In the piece, Mark also looks ahead to what we have planned in 2014 under newly elected C40 Chair Mayor Eduardo Paes of Rio de Janeiro, including the upcoming Mayors Summit in Johannesburg in February and the 2014 City Climate Leadership Awards.
