OECD: Mayors & Ministers mobilizing in the march toward Rio+20

Mayors & Ministers from around the world are gathering in Chicago today and tomorrow for the Organization of Economic Co-Operation and Development (OECD) Urban Roundtable. C40 Chair, New York City Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg will preside over the meeting with Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel (a C40 City), OECD Secretary-General, Angel Gurría, and Secretary of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, Shaun Donovan.

Global leaders, sustainability experts and other stakeholders at the event will delve into the opportunities and challenges facing cities on the road to sustainable growth. Mayor Bloomberg is expected to focus on the role of cities as key players in combating the impacts of global climate change and what the C40 as a collective will bring to the table in talks at the upcoming Rio + 20 conference. Across the OECD event, from discussion of buildings, to transport, to financing programs, the OECD Roundtable is tackling many of the core sectors that C40’s own research has also explored.
