Pope Francis to meet with C40 mayors on climate

A delegation of local and city representatives – including C40 Chair, Mayor of Rio de Janeiro Eduardo Paes and more than twenty C40 mayors from around the world – will meet with Pope Francis next week to reach a common understanding around challenges and best practices needed to fight climate change in local communities.

The event, which includes sessions on combating climate change and modern slavery and promoting sustainable development, will take place on July 21 and 22nd at the Casina Pio IV in the Vatican, and will build upon themes outlined in Pope Francis’ recently released Encyclical, Laudato Si’.
