C40 Mayors made headlines last week at Rio + C40: Megacity Mayors Taking Action against Climate Change. But just as important were the conversations and dialogue among Mayors and technical experts who are tackling major climate-related issues at the urban level across the world. Over the next few days, we’ll be rolling out a series of video recaps of these engagements from Rio + C40.
For our first installment, we would like to share the first panel of the day “Governance, Advocacy, and Institutional Framework on Sustainable Development.
This roundtable kicked off with a presentation by Rohit Aggarwala, Senior Advisor to the C40 Chair, on the role of local governments and the importance of measurement to C40’s mission. Then, Mayors Michael Bloomberg, Eduardo Paes (Rio de Janeiro), Park Won Soon (Seoul) and Executive Mayor Tau Mpho Franklyn (Johannesburg) took the stage with moderator Paulo Cabral of BBC Brasil to discuss how their cities are making the collective commitment to fight climate change through local sustainability measures.
