Overview

The project is implemented at the Kuryanovskie waste water treatment plants of Moscow Municipal Water Supply and Waste Water Treatment Service "Mosvodokanal". It’s based on sludge processing technology by methane fermentation, which produces biogas and causes sediment decontamination.

Goals and objectives

- development of "green" energy, alternative energy resources use;
- reduction of greenhouse gas emissions;
- reliability increase in waste water treatment plant operations by creation of independent energy source;
- reduction of sewage sludge volume

Innovative technology, reducing negative impact on environment

The mini-CHP with production of biogas from sludge was built. Mini-CHP produces 10 megawatts of electricity annually.

Indicators of negative environmental impact reduction

Reduction of greenhouse gas emission up to 310 thousands tons of CO2 equivalent.

Plans of project development (introduction of positive effects in urban practice)

The same project is planned to be implemented at Lyubereckie waste water treatment plants of Moscow Municipal Water Supply and Waste Water Treatment Service "Mosvodokanal". Planned period of operational commissioning- end of 2012.
