C40 Forum

December 4, 2015 - December 4, 2015 Salon des Arcades, Second Floor, Hôtel de ville, Paris City Hall

About The C40 Forum

This December, the world community will come together for two weeks in Paris for the 21st Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP21). This gathering will raise the level of international and non-state ambition to take bold and immediate action on climate change. While national government negotiators will work to broker a formal deal, COP21 also presents a uniquely important opportunity to highlight the importance of local climate action in cities around the world.

There will be a number of events, activities, and attractions taking place in Paris during COP21. The C40 Forum will be the main opportunity for C40 Mayors to demonstrate the leadership of their cities in addressing climate change during the negotiations. The C40 Forum will also showcase the C40 network model and the impact that city-to-city collaboration is having in cities. Mayors will highlight the achievements of their cities and the benefits of working together.

Format

The C40 Forum, Paris 2015 will be a half-day forum taking place during the morning of 4th December. The forum will be focused around plenary sessions with C40 Mayors presenting on various topics. Question-and-answers sessions will follow when time allows. C40 Mayors will also answer questions during in-depth interviews.

Topics

A draft agenda for the C40 Forum will be available on this site in the near future. The Forum is expected to adress topics such as: low carbon transportation, energy efficiency, zero-carbon development, adaptation and resilience, finance, innovation, and public-private sector collaboration.

The C40 Forum will also be used as an opportunity to highlight findings from forthcoming C40 research focused on the state of climate action in megacities; barriers to and co-benefits of climate action; the role of cities in preventing emissions lock-in; and climate mitigation potential at local, regional and national government levels.
