Press Release: Mexico City to Host 2016 C40 Mayors Summit
Mexico City, Mexico (November 26, 2014) -- Rio de Janeiro Mayor Eduardo Paes, Chair of the C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group (C40) and Mexico City Mayor Dr. Miguel Ángel Mancera announced today that Mexico City has been selected to host the sixth biennial C40 Mayors Summit in November 2016. The Summit will bring together C40 mayors from all over the world and hundreds of urban and sustainability leaders to advance urban solutions to climate change and highlight the leadership role of cities in addressing climate change.
“We are pleased to be hosting the next C40 Mayors Summit and work together with other mayors who are also leading the global fight against climate change,” said Mayor Mancera. “This event will enable mayors from all over the world to share knowledge and set their agenda for climate policy and deliver concrete actions for the sustainability of our cities.”
The event will feature a series of roundtable discussions and working sessions on city driven climate actions and their impact; the discussions will be data-driven and outcome focused. Mayors, urban practitioners and technical experts will share successful projects, policies and programmes across a range of sectors and action areas, including building energy efficiency, low carbon transport, green growth and climate resilience.
