C40 & Danish Government Launches Project to Unlock Climate Action in Cities Around the World
Through a 2 million Euro grant from Denmark’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs the C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group (C40) will help five of the world’s fastest growing mega cities, in Africa and Asia to develop and implement ambitious climate action plans. The climate action plans will support the cities to meet emissions reduction targets in line with the Paris Agreement and help accelerate sustainable ‘green’ economic growth in these cities.
Cities to be Leading Voices at G20 Summit in Buenos Aires
U20 was launched today at a press conference hosted by the Mayor of Paris & Chair of C40 Cities, Anne Hidalgo and Mayor of Buenos Aires, Horacio Rodríguez Larreta. The initiative will bring together 30 major cities located in G20 countries, and many other global cities, to raise the profile of urban issues in the G20 agenda and enhance the role of cities in the G20 process.

15 of the world’s great cities launched an unprecedented global competition to drive carbon neutral and resilient urban regeneration. C40’s Reinventing Cities initiative has already identified 46 underutilized spaces to redevelop, including several empty plots and abandoned buildings, a former airport, historical mansions, underused car parks, and an abandoned incinerator and landfill.
