This week, five C40 cities are being featured in CNN International’s new series The City, as part of our ongoing media collaboration with the network. To kick off the series, The City featured Johannesburg and Rotterdam, highlighting how these cities are leading the way in addressing the sources and risks of climate change.

Today, C40 and Siemens announced the 29 cities that have been nominated as finalists for the City Climate Leadership Awards. The finalist cities – which span five continents – have demonstrated leadership in climate solutions on a city scale, as identified by an independent panel of judges.

As C40 & Siemens prepare for the upcoming City Climate Leadership Awards event, to be held in London September 4 and 5, we hear from Siemens’ own Joe Peach on why cities matter.

This September marks the inaugural award ceremony for the City Climate Leadership Awards, presented by C40 and Siemens at the Crystal, Siemens’ Urban Sustainability Center in London.

The C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group (C40) and Siemens today announced a new collaboration, both a technical partnership and a global prize competition to recognize city actions and innovation that will accelerate C40 city actions to combat the impacts of global climate change.
