Climate Action Planning (CAP) Africa Launch Event and 1st Regional Academy
About the Climate Action Planning Africa program launch:
The program launch will entail a high-level media event attended by several high-profile city leaders, including C40’s Executive Director, Mr Mark Watts, and C40’s Regional Director for Africa, Mr Hastings Chikoko. The launch event will include an interesting and informative panel discussion with these and several other authorities on climate change in the African region. Panelist include the Lagos State Governor, Mayor of Accra, Deputy Consul General of Germany, the UNDP Country Director for Nigeria and Mr Mark Watts, and will be moderated by Mr Hastings Chikoko.
Attendance at the launch event will be by invitation only. This event will take place from 8h30 to 12h30 on 15 May 2018.
About the Regional Academy training workshop:
The primary purpose of the Regional Academy is to facilitate capacity building, knowledge exchange and ongoing regional collaboration between C40’s member cities in Africa by sharing tools, resources, ideas and experiences.
The format of the Regional Academy is a mix of structured sessions, trainings and facilitated discussions where C40 staff, several experts, participating cities and City Advisers can learn, share good practices as well as challenges. The Regional Academy will begin the process of training the City Advisers and city focal points on available tools and resources for the successful development of ambitious, evidence-based climate action plans in accordance with city commitments to C40’s Deadline 2020 Program and C40’s Participation Standards.
Attendance at the Regional Academy workshop will be on an invitation only basis.
