Sam David - C40 Digital and Social Media Manager

Sam is Digital and Social Media Manager at C40. As part of the Communications and Events department, Sam works closely with the Brand, Creative and Digital team, as well as members of the wider organisation, to create a strong brand for C40. Keeping global reach and local relevance in mind, Sam is key in helping conceptualise, strategise, and create engaging content that connects with C40’s target audiences and key stakeholders.

Sam has over 10 years of experience in content. She began her career as a print journalist in 2010 before diving into the world of digital writing, and then expanding her skill set to include areas such as social media management. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communication from Murdoch University.

Senior Manager of Strategic Communications, Partnerships & Insights
United States

Emily is C40’s Senior Manager of Strategic Communications, Partnerships & Insights. In this role, she is responsible for developing and executing priority communications campaigns, growing C40’s partner portfolio, supporting the development of data-driven communications, and building the brand with a global audience.

Prior to joining C40, Emily worked at George Washington University, where she managed creative projects for university-wide initiatives and events. Before joining GW, Emily was the Marketing Manager at American Forests, a longstanding conservation organization that creates healthy and resilient forests across the U.S. In this role, she managed communications across various digital channels and worked with internal and external partners to build support for American Forests’ work.

Emily holds a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Strategic Communication from Ohio University and a Master’s degree in Public Administration with a focus on Nonprofit Management from George Washington University.

Global Media Officer
Kenya

Grace serves as the C40’s Global Media Officer, and is a passionate environmentalist as well as a sustainability and communications specialist. She has extensive experience in developing and implementing impactful communication strategies and campaigns on sustainable development issues, media management and engagement and creating engaging content for both digital and mainstream media.

Grace has also volunteered in organisations in Northern Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania that promote food and water security, renewable energy and sustainable agriculture.

Head of Global Media

Headshot of Rolf Rosenkranz, C40 Head of Media

Rolf Rosenkranz serves as C40’s Head of Global Media. In this role, he leads efforts to position C40 and C40 mayors as global climate leaders and build their profile on a local, regional and global stage.

Rolf has more than 10 years of experience empowering governments, civil society and media to save and improve lives through effective multi-platform campaigns and policy change. Prior to joining C40, Rolf was associate director of communications at the Global Health Advocacy Incubator, overseeing and guiding impactful policy, advocacy and communications campaigns to improve health, nutrition and epidemic preparedness across Africa, Latin America and Asia-Pacific. As founding editor of the Devex newsroom, Rolf created and built a cutting-edge news and information platform for the global development community.

Rolf has served in a number of advisory roles, including with the UN Refugee Agency, Global Partnership for Sustainable Development Data and Global Health Strategies.

Communications Manager, UKAID Programme
Brazil

Ernesto is the Communications Manager for the UKAID Climate Action Implementation Programme at C40. He coordinates communication activities and visibility strategies, working across the 15 cities supported by the programme and liaising with different teams across C40.

Before joining C40, Ernesto worked at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office at the British Consulate in Rio de Janeiro, where he led strategic communications to climate diplomacy, science and innovation bilateral programmes in Brazil funded by the UK government. Prior to that position, he worked with international marketing tourism promotion of Brazil aiming at foreign consumer markets in Europe and in the US.

Ernesto graduated from the Federal University of Minas Gerais with a BA in Communication Studies, Journalism and TV/Radio Broadcasting, and holds a Postgraduate diploma in Tourism Business Management from the University of Brasilia. He is fluent in Portuguese, English and Spanish.

Events Officer
United Kingdom

Emily-Jayne serves as Events Officer at C40. Based in London, she supports the delivery of C40’s internationally-recognised events and those by its mayoral global leadership.

Prior to joining C40, Emily-Jayne served as the Events and Operations Coordinator at the World Energy Council, where she helped to organise the Council’s flagship events such as the World Energy Congress and World Energy Leader’s Summit. Emily-Jayne has a degree in Earth & Environmental Science from Lancaster University with a year spent at the University of Kentucky to focus on Natural Resources.

Digital Content and Web Manager
United Kingdom

Beth is Digital Content and Web Manager at C40. In this role, she is responsible for creating, editing and maintaining digital content and developing strategic content for comms activities across C40’s key milestones, campaigns and partnerships. She also oversees all web development projects and helps to streamline and refine C40’s digital presence.

Before joining C40, Beth was Communications Coordinator at the European Respiratory Society, where she developed and actioned comms strategies for campaigns and international events, led the organisation’s media activities, and managed social and digital comms channels. Before this, she worked as Digital Content Editor for Sheffield Hallam University and as an Editorial Intern for a local magazine.

Beth holds an MSc in Science Communication from the University of Manchester and a BA in English Language and Linguistics from the University of Sheffield.

Head of Thought Leadership and Insights
United Kingdom

Matt serves as Head of Thought Leadership and Insights at C40.

The Thought Leadership part of his role is focused on elevating C40’s public standing as a recognised and leading content expert on the topic of urban climate action. The insights component, meanwhile, is primarily focused on developing data and evidence-led communications content that is strategic, engaging, aligned with C40’s global audience, and underpinned by robust political, economic and social landscape analysis.

Prior to joining C40, Matt was a Telecoms and Technology editor, where in addition to managing coverage for 60 countries and leading on technology-related projects, consultancy and policy analysis for ICT clients, he also contributed to various city and sustainability research projects.

He holds an undergraduate degree in International Economics from Nottingham University, where he specialised in International Trade and Economics of the European Union. He also holds a Masters degree in Journalism from Goldsmiths College, London and more recently, a Masters degree in Sustainable Cities from King’s College, London.

Director of Joint Communications & Campaigns, C40 & GCOM

Shruti has worked for the UK Government in a number of roles over the past 12 years, including in the Department of Energy and Climate Change and in the Prime Minister’s Office. Most recently she was Head of COP26 Partnerships and External Engagement at the British Embassy in Washington DC.

Managing Director, Communications and Events
United Kingdom

Lamia Senousi is C40 Managing Director of the Communications & Events team, based in London, UK. Prior to joining C40, Lamia was Head of External Communications at the London Business School, where she oversaw a team of public relations and government affairs experts in London, New York, Dubai and Hong Kong. Lamia also served as a Global Communications and Strategic Partnership Leader at EY (formerly Ernst & Young), where she worked under the former Secretary of State for Finance in Spain and led the development and implementation of a global communications and partnership agenda for the Global Climate Change & Sustainability Practice. Previously, she worked at Deloitte, LLP in London and at PR Newswire. She was also the Campaign Manager & Election Agent in 2015 for the Labour Parliamentary Candidate for Cities of Westminster and London. Lamia has served in a number of advisory roles, including as a Communications Advisor to the Womanity Foundation. Lamia is fluent in Arabic, Danish, English, and German.

Head of Events
France

As Head of Events at C40 since 2018, Stéphanie is responsible for organizing innovative and inspiring global events (inperson, hybrid and virtual) that showcase the work of C40 and the leadership of its mayors in taking climate action. She has more than 20 years of professional experience in the fields of strategic project management and international events organizations.

In her previous roles, Stéphanie served during 10 years as the Chief of the Cabinet of the President of the French Tennis Federation, where she oversaw the directorate of the President’s office, international and institutional relations, as well as the Presidential box and all related events during the French Open and the ATP Paris Masters 1000 tennis tournaments. She also worked as a project manager at the French National Olympic Sport Committee and took part in Winter and Summer Olympic & Paralympic Games, first covering editorial management roles before developing VIP hospitality programmes.

Senior Creative Manager

Laure serves as Senior Creative Manager at C40. As part of the Communications and Events Team, she works in close collaboration with the digital team and members of the wider organisation. Laure is responsible for leading on the design and development of a variety of digital assets for C40, and brings creative and innovative ideas to reach new and existing audiences.

Since joining C40, Laure has worked on improving the brand identity and launching a new website to strengthen the organisation’s brand awareness and help position C40 as a leading voice in the global climate conversation.

Laure has over eight years of experience developing creative concepts and visual strategies within design and animation studios. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic and Media Design from the London College of Communication, UK.

Senior Team Coordinator
France

Cornelia von Einem serves as Senior Team Coordinator for the Comms & Events team. Based in Paris, Cornelia provides daily support to the Director of Communications & Events, and serves as a key member of the team, helping to coordinate and structure meetings and agendas with internal and external stakeholders. She also liaises with Les Canaux, a metropolitan hub for innovation and economic solidarity and the location of C40’s Paris office. Cornelia has held administrative and customer-facing positions in private and public-sector organisations in France, after working as a picture editor in scientific book publishing, where she developed a keen interest in environmental issues. She has lived in Venezuela, Germany, and Japan before moving to France, and speaks German, French, and English (and is now brushing up on her Spanish!).

Events Manager
United Kingdom

Brendan serves as Events Officer at C40. In this role, Brendan draws on his project management skills to assist in the end-to-end delivery of world-leading international events, communication campaigns and initiatives that showcase the work of C40 Cities.

Prior to joining C40, Brendan worked for several years in different capacities within the music industry, specialising in events and venue management, primarily for VICE Media-owned and independent venues in London. He has also worked in the social care sector, for an educational NGO in Hong Kong, and has volunteered for several NGOs both in the UK and abroad, focusing on research, copywriting, data protection, and refugee participation in sports.

Brendan holds a Master’s degree in Environment, Development and Policy from the University of Sussex and a Bachelor’s degree in Music and Entertainment Industry Management from the University of Hertfordshire.

Head of Strategic Communications and Partnerships

Christopher is the Head of Strategic Communications and Partnerships at C40.

In this role, he develops and oversees strategic communications strategies for C40’s key moments and projects throughout the year. He also cultivates relationships with senior stakeholders from partner organisations, and helps identify, secure and grow partnerships that can deliver on strategic objectives for the C40 brand.

Before joining C40, Christopher was the Director of Communications at American Forests, the oldest national conservation organization in the U.S., where he led communications activities for the organization’s key policy issues and urban and wildland forest restoration efforts. Prior to that position, he worked at Casey Trees, a community forestry nonprofit in Washington, D.C. Christopher graduated from the University of Kansas with a Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism, and minors in European Studies and French.

Digital and Social Media Manager

Alicia serves as Digital and Social Media Manager for C40. In this role, she is responsible for taking C40’s presence on social media and digital platforms to the next level, and increasing the visibility of both C40, and our cities’ work. 

Alicia helps to further strengthen C40 as one of the leading voices in the global climate conversation, and connects our organisation with audiences around the world through creative and engaging content on new and existing platforms.

Before joining C40, Alicia worked as a journalist for newspapers across the UK, covering live news and producing content for digital and social media platforms.

Alicia holds a BA in Journalism Studies from the University of Sheffield, UK, and is accredited by the National Council for the Training of Journalists (NCTJ).
