Uma is a key connection point between C40 and the Co-Chair Office, and between the Mayor of London’s Office and the Mayor of Freetown’s office themselves as C40 begins a new leadership model for the organisation. Uma oversees the Co-Chair’s diplomacy strategies and manages all diplomacy-related communications between the Chair’s staff and C40 teams.

Uma leads on key diplomatic and stakeholder relationships on behalf of the Co-Chairs including those with the UN Secretary General’s Office and related UN departments. She works in close collaboration with C40’s diplomacy team to build strong relationships with international city networks.

Prior to joining C40 in 2022, Uma was Deputy Director of Parliamentary Affairs for the Leader of the Opposition in the UK and is experienced in high-level political advisory, having worked in Government and as Senior Advisor to the current Mayor of London. She has also led national political campaigns, including for general and local elections. Uma holds a Master of Science degree in Public Policy and a Bachelor’s degree in Politics.
