The Journal of City Climate Policy and Economy seeks innovative, thought-provoking, and informed original research and policy guidelines for our open-call issue due to be published in Spring 2027.

We welcome papers on any aspect of the urban climate agenda that supports governmental policy to achieve resilient, equitable cities and a world where global heating is limited to 1.5°C; however, we are particularly interested in papers that address the research gaps identified in the latest Global Research and Action Agenda on Cities and Climate Change Science (GRAA)

This is a unique opportunity to present research to the Journal’s key audience—mayors and city policymakers—and support their critical role in demonstrating that purposeful, mission-oriented policies and investments can lead to the necessary transformational change that science and society demands in order to address climate change.

We welcome pre-submission enquiries, so please feel free to contact the editorial team if you would like to discuss your idea to see if it might be suitable for the journal.

Abstracts should be no more than 250 words and show how your topic aligns with the aims of the Journal. In particular, it should show how your paper will benefit city mayors and decision makers. For original research, the proposed methodology should be clearly outlined. Please state in your email which manuscript type you would like to submit. If you are unsure which manuscript type would be more appropriate, please feel free to contact us to discuss. Abstracts should be emailed to Sarah Lewis at slewis@c40cities.org

  1. Papers should be submitted to the Journal’s peer review system.
