In 2027, Chicago will regulate data centres by introducing a long-term regulatory framework.
It builds on the city’s Sustainable Data Centres Working Group and a recent Executive Order that aims to protect residents from unfair environmental, energy and infrastructure burdens, while keeping the city open to responsible investment.
