Strengthening youth engagement in city climate action through global collaboration

The City Youth Engagement Network is a peer-to-peer collaboration space where cities share knowledge, strategies and support to strengthen meaningful youth participation in local climate action. It provides city teams with resources and practical learning to build and improve youth engagement platforms and embed young people’s perspectives in decision-making.

As part of C40’s wider work on youth engagement, the network helps cities create opportunities for young people to contribute ideas, influence policy and take part in implementing climate solutions at neighbourhood and citywide levels.

Core areas of action on youth engagement in climate policy

Creating new youth engagement platforms

Providing cities with tools and resources to establish new structures for young people to participate in climate decision-making.

Strengthening existing platforms

Supporting cities to build stronger relationships with young people and implement more inclusive climate actions.

Connecting platforms across cities

Driving collaboration and knowledge sharing between youth engagement platforms, enabling cities to learn from one another and develop effective strategies.
