Starting on May 20th, the Compact of Mayors will host a series of webinars – both regional and language-specific – on the newly launched e-learning tool.

This e-learning course will show cities how to work through the various phases of Compact compliance in a self-paced virtual environment. The tool will also support local leaders to help them better understand the key requirements for the Compact as well as guide them through their respective city’s journey towards achieving compliance.

The Compact is hosting six webinars that take a deeper dive into the platform as well as help audiences better understand best practices, ideas and strategies to relay to city leaders who are employing the tool to achieve Compact compliance.

The topics for each of the webinars include:

An introduction to the Compact of Mayors (20 minutes)

Staff supporting the Compact of Mayors will provide introductions and background information on the Compact. This section covers a general overview of the Compact, partner organizations, the scope of the initiative, how to join, and requirements for compliance.

Five ways C40 cities are taking action to curb air pollution

According to new data released today by the World Health Organization (WHO), up to 80% of urban citizens are regularly exposed to air pollution levels that exceed the WHO limits, causing more than 3 million premature deaths worldwide every year. This periodic survey of 3,000 cities in 103 countries found that urban populations in low-income countries are most affected.

Whilst the findings are alarming, the good news is that cities are taking major strides to tackle air pollution challenges. Here are five ways that C40 mayors are taking action to deliver cleaner air, improve public health and reduce the risks of climate change.
