London, UK (13 October 2016) – Mayor of Milan, Giuseppe Sala has been elected to the role of vice chair on the C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group (C40) Steering Committee, the governing body that provides strategic direction for the C40 network of mega-cities committed to action on climate change.
Mayors serving as Vice Chairs on the Steering Committee represent the geographically diverse members of the global network and Mayor Sala will represent the Europe region. Milan, joins Amman, Boston, Copenhagen, Hong Kong, Jakarta, London, Los Angeles, Mexico City, Paris, Rio de Janeiro and Seoul.
“On behalf of all C40 members, it is my great pleasure to welcome Mayor Sala as our newest C40 Vice Chair,” said C40 Chair and Rio de Janeiro Mayor Eduardo Paes. “Milan has been a leader in tackling climate change, and I look forward to working with Mayor Sala in the months ahead to make the Paris Agreement a reality in our cities.”

The next convening of the C40 Steering Committee will take place at the C40 Mayors Summit the foremost global gathering of mayors of the world’s megacities and climate change experts, in Mexico City November 30 – December 2, 2016.
