Today, the C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group (C40) announced that Antha Williams, who leads the Environment Program at Bloomberg Philanthropies, will join the C40 Board. Williams will represent Bloomberg Philanthropies, a strategic C40 funder and the philanthropic foundation of Michael R. Bloomberg, C40 Board President and three-term mayor of New York City. The decision follows a vote by the C40 Steering Committee of 10 global cities whose mayors set the strategic direction of the organisation.

Williams brings a wealth of experience in philanthropy and environmental issues. She previously worked for foundations and donors including the New York based Atlantic Philanthropies, and campaigned with environmental organizations including the Sierra Club, Greenpeace and Green Corps.

“2015 is a pivotal year in the fight against climate change as the international community works to achieve an ambitious agreement at the Paris COP21,” said Williams. “Through knowledge-sharing, diplomacy and key initiatives such as the Compact of Mayors led by UN Special Envoy Michael R. Bloomberg, C40 is helping to move the dial on what cities – and nations – can achieve, and I am pleased to contribute to this effort as a member of the C40 Board.”
