Matheus is the Head of Urban Planning Implementation at C40, where he supports global programmes to integrate climate action into urban planning. He successfully launched the Climate Action Guide for Urban Planners and the C40 & UN-Habitat Urban Planning Accelerator, which involves over 30 signatory cities across all continents. Previously, Matheus served as C40’s Senior Manager at UrbanShift, training more than 3,000 individuals through online courses and workshops in Africa, Asia, and Latin America on climate planning and managing urban growth.
Matheus joined C40 in 2018 as City Adviser for Salvador, where he helped the city develop its first-ever climate action plan. Before C40, he led the FCDO’s Future Cities programme at the UK Embassy in Brazil. He holds a BA in International Relations (PUC-SP) and a Master’s degree in International Development (London School of Economics).
