United in Action | Unidos en Acción

The C40 World Mayors Summit is our triennial climate action conference organised in partnership with a C40 member city. This year’s Summit, hosted by the City of Buenos Aires from 19–21 October 2022, will be a hybrid in-person and virtual event.

The Summit will bring together mayors of world-leading cities, alongside business leaders, global influencers, philanthropists, campaigners, youth leaders, scientists and residents, to showcase the work cities are doing to deliver effective climate solutions and demonstrate what a strong global coalition united on radical climate action can achieve.

There is no time to waste — we must take faster, fairer, and more ambitious inclusive climate action now.

ABOUT THE EVENT

Youth climate leaders protest at C40 World Mayors Summit 2019

January 2020 marked the beginning of the decade that will determine the future of humanity. More than two years later, it is now inherently clear: We must take faster, fairer, and more ambitious inclusive climate action now. We know that confronting the climate crisis requires bold steps and greater commitment from everyone in society, and we know that we are stronger together.

Cities are leading the way — they continue to demonstrate the highest level of climate ambition. The Summit provides a key moment ahead of COP27 to share and learn from cities’ climate action successes. The programme will highlight cutting-edge innovations and showcase the capacity of new partnerships to find creative urban solutions to the climate crisis.

Mayors will use the Summit to take stock of the progress that global cities have made in confronting the climate crisis during the COVID-19 pandemic, highlighting how they are accelerating the delivery of their climate commitments and helping create a more sustainable, equitable world where everyone, everywhere can thrive.

As the host city, Buenos Aires will showcase the wide range of successful and inspiring climate solutions that the city has implemented, as well as Summit side-events that celebrate the host city’s participation and engagement with innovative, meaningful and equitable climate action.
