    A Brighter Future for Harnessing Solar Power in Cities

    As part of the Financing Sustainable Cities Initiative (FSCI), a partnership between WRI Ross Center for Sustainable Cities and C40, funded by the Citi Foundation, C40 hosted its first Clean Energy Finance Academy from March 7-9, 2018 in Vancouver. The Academy brought together nine city representatives and technical experts to discuss innovative financial mechanisms and business models for implementing solar PV projects. The Academy helped launch a series of new peer-to-peer and technical expert collaborations to increase solar PV adoption in C40 Cities.

    C40 Cities Finance Facility Launches New Interactive Website

    C40 cities work together to invest in clean buses

    May 11, 2017

    Replacing diesel and compressed natural gas (CNG) buses with low emission buses, such as battery electric and hybrid, can generate significant environmental, health and economic benefits in our cities. To date, 27 cities have signed onto C40’s Clean Bus Declaration committing to switching more than 45,000 buses in their fleets to low emission buses, saving an estimated 1 million tons of GHG emissions per year. If each of these 27 cities switched their entire fleet to low emission buses, the savings could reach 2.8 million tons of GHG emissions each year. This is the equivalent of taking around 590,000 cars off the road.

    New research highlights pipeline of investment opportunities in sustainable infrastructure across C40 cities

    April 4, 2017

    Today, the C40 Financing Sustainable Cities Forum is being hosted in London by the C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group and the Greater London Authority, with the support of the Citi Foundation and WRI Ross Center for Sustainable Cities.          

    To get a better sense of the investment potential in C40 cities, C40 and CDP have partnered together to produce an analysis of sustainable infrastructure projects currently in development across the C40 network. The report is accompanied by a beta pipeline that highlights planned projects in C40 cities.
