How can cities shape and support thriving places that create prosperity for all residents within Earth’s planetary boundaries? The Journal of City Climate Policy and Economy invites submissions for a special issue on sustainable prosperity in the 21st century.

The Journal of City Climate Policy and Economy (JCCPE), published in partnership with the University of Toronto Press, is part of the work of the C40 Centre for City Climate Policy and Economy. It offers timely, evidence-based research that contributes to the urban climate agenda and supports transformational governmental policy towards an equitable and resilient world.

This Special Issue of the Journal of City Climate Policy and Economy invites contributions that are inspired by the rich legacy of the late Herman Daly, one of the pioneers of ecological economics. Daly called into question the central paradigm of mainstream economics and his ideas shaped the thinking of many others who followed. While Daly did not directly address the urban dimension, his work has been widely adapted to, and adopted by cities.

The Special Issue invites contributions from:

  1. Researchers and academics; and
  2. City practitioners (city officials and civil society organisations) from whom we welcome relevant case studies.

Contributions can include any manuscript type accepted by the Journal (original research, reviews, policy guidelines, commentaries, editorials).

Submit your abstracts or expressions of interest by 6 September 2024 to slewis@c40.org

Learn more about the call for submissions on the JCCPE website.
